Water for the Thirsty

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Weekly Devotional

‘As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you, O God’. (Psalm 42:1)
‘…Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink”…’ (John 7:37)

All of us can be greatly inspired by our fellow Christians who practise what they preach, whose words come alive by their practical Christianity. The following quotations from Mother Teresa bring a refreshing view of life's mundane problems. We worry about our immediate needs. But Mother Teresa toiled a lifetime to bring a ray of sunshine in the lives of the destitute. These Mother Teresa Quotations urge us to get in touch with our conscience, the core of our existence.

“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.”
“I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.”
“If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
“Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty.”
“The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted”
“Kind words are short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless”
“I prefer you to make mistakes in kindness than work miracles in unkindness.”
“Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.”
“Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.”
“Love is a fruit in season at all times, and in reach of every hand”.
“We sometimes feel that what we do is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop”.
“These concerns (for orphan children in India and elsewhere in the world) are very good, but often these same people are not concerned with the millions that are killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today, abortion...for the pregnant women who don't want their children, give them to me.”
“It’s a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish”.
" It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start.”
“Many people mistake our work for our vocation. Our vocation is the love of Jesus.”
“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
“If we really want to love we must learn how to forgive.”
“The dying the cripple the mental the unwanted the unloved they are Jesus in disguise”.
“Jesus is my God My spouse My life My only love My all in all My everything”

Have a good week being inspired to live out your Christianity.
